Exactly two weeks ago Jeff and I headed to the hospital knowing that we'd be coming home with a baby. That was the strangest car ride I've ever taken...to go somewhere with the intention of changing your life forever. I suppose my life would have changed forever regardless of whether I took the car ride or not! Although I know my life is forever changed, I sometimes can't believe it. Sometimes it seems this is just a phase and eventually the stork will come back for the baby and life will go back to the way it was. How long does it take to truly accept that she's here to stay? I'll have to post later when that moment of acceptance hits.
Sophia LaRae Simpson was born Monday, February 6th 2012 at 12:25 am. She weighed 7 lbs 3.7 oz, was 18 inches long, and had lots of dark hair. Her most notable feature was her quivering chin which quivered uncontrollably everytime she cried. This made it very easy to smile and laugh even when she was crying her eyes out. The "Quiver me timbers" chin (as we called it) is not as prominent anymore...only when we make her really mad!
We love our new little bundle. She is very well behaived! She eats well, sleeps well (mostly), and is very content when she's awake. The only thing she doesn't do well it burp - of course, we like to think that's because our great parenting skills have taught her to be so polite already! It's amazing how much she's already changed from the first time we saw her - I suppose I should get used to her growing and changing before my very eyes. Here's a little slideshow of Sophia from day one:
